GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Niva International School offers excellent quality elementary and secondary education (K-12) based on current and innovative curriculum while significantly integrating positive character qualities, cross-cultural understanding and modern technology into the learning experience. Applications are currently being sought from suitably qualified Native English Speakers (Americans, Australians, British, Canadians, Irish and New Zealanders) to work in an English only speaking, multinational environment for the following positions:

Elementary Teacher

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students
  • Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and assessments and clearly communicates these objectives to students
  • Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Valid Teaching License in home country in the area of K-12 in English.
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred)

  • Expert within content area with the ability to provide fun, yet, relevant instruction
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the administration, students, and co-educators

Physical Education (PE) Teacher or Coach

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement an integrated, standards-based project centered physical education program integrating physical education, nutrition and team-building.
  • Instructional delivery emphasizes the importance of an active lifestyle for lifelong health.
  • Provide an instructional program with differentiation of instruction to support individual students, and support the academic and socio/emotional growth of our diverse group of students.
  • Administer assessments to measure student growth as well as suggest activities that can be done outside of the school setting to reinforce skills and promote physical activity.
  • Create a healthy and safe learning environment that demonstrates respect for all and supports student success, communicate and partner effectively with parents to support student learning, and evaluate student learning and adapt to evaluation data to continually improve our academic program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Teaching license in home country an asset)
  • TB Test clearance & Police clearance
  • 3+ successful years coaching or PE instruction experience

International School Librarian

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promote the development of reading and literacy skills for information and recreation and take a lead in creating and maintaining a whole-school environment which encourages reading for pleasure
  • Support the educational aims and objectives of the school and monitor the effectiveness of the Library’s contribution to learning and teaching
  • Keep up to date with children’s literature
  • Generate reading lists of age appropriate recommended books for each year group and keep them updated
  • Work alongside class teachers to prepare and deliver weekly lessons in the Library
  • Liaise with writers’ agents, publishers and bookshops to build on our successful program of author and illustrator visits. Where appropriate liaise with local schools as part of our outreach program
  • Manage and promote a wide range of resources in a variety of formats both traditional and electronic
  • Keep the Library up to date
  • Run regular small book groups for voracious and reluctant readers
  • Manage a study environment for both curriculum-based and independent learning. This involves the management and integration of physical resources (day-to-day management of fiction and non-fiction books, guided reading boxes, learning support reading material, story packs) as well as audio-visual resources and virtual learning environments
  • Support teachers with work in all curriculum areas by recommending and resourcing appropriate books (fiction and non-fiction) to support teaching and learning
  • Involve the School Library in home-school liaison projects that develop and support home learning and to support the engagement of parents/carers in their children’s learning and curriculum needs
  • Plan and oversee the organization and management of the Library including the financial management of the Library resource budget and the preparation of financial estimates
  • To compile termly reports on the Library’s stock and developmental needs in relation to the Library’s integral role in supporting the school curriculum
  • Participate in wider school life. This includes attending assemblies and staff meetings, preparing requested documentation and/or resources, accompanying pupils and teachers on trips and visits
  • Take pride in the appearance of the Library and create a welcoming environment at the center of the school for pupils, parents and visitors
  • Supervise children in the Library during break times and lunchtimes
  • If required, undertake to help within the broader context of the School, carrying out such other reasonable duties to support its smooth and efficient organization as may be requested from time to time
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Graduate qualification or equivalent (Minimum Bachelors Degree)
  • Demonstrable front line library experience ideally within an International School setting
  • Previous experience in implementing reader development initiatives together with an enthusiasm to promote literacy
  • Professional qualifications and/or a graduate library qualification
  • ICT competence and a willingness to undertake further training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the current educational and literacy framework
  • A sound knowledge of children’s literature
