Looking after our planet
NIVA American and our students help contribute to the environmental sustainability of our planet by adopting the following practices:
- All wastes are separated and recycled as appropriate;
- All food waste is transformed into fertiliser;
- Hydroponics farming; and
- Recycling and upcycling (e.g. transforming old T-shirts into reusable shopping bags, etc).
In addition, we are in the process of joining Eco-Schools, the world’s largest sustainable schools program, that will encourage our students to engage with their environment by giving them the opportunity to actively protect it. Through this program, our students will experience a sense of achievement from having a voice in the environmental management policies of our school. The program is also a great way for us to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment at both NIVA American and the local community while at the same time having a lasting positive impact on our students, their families, our staff, and local authorities.
Sharing is caring
Our students are taught to be socially responsible and encouraged to be charitable. In recent years, many of them have worked together to raise funds for many charities, including the Friends for All Children Foundation and Foundation for the Blind.
Apart from financial donation, some of our students have also gone out of their way to help provide relief during times of natural disasters, such as during the flood in Ubon Ratchathani in 2020.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, our students and teachers have donated food and masks to hospitals and those who have lost their jobs.
