PM 2.5 Pollution in Bangkok

At NIVA American International School, we are thrilled to celebrate the academic achievements of our talented students. Today, we shine a spotlight on the exceptional work of Primnutcha Bunnag, whose dedication and passion for research have led to the completion of two insightful and impactful research papers.

Both of her studies tackle significant issues affecting Thai society, reflecting her commitment to understanding and addressing real-world challenges. Here’s a closer look at her incredible work:

Research Paper 1: Research on Public Awareness, Perceptions, and the Impact of Smog and PM 2.5 Air Pollution on the Thai Population

Primnutcha’s first research paper investigates public awareness and behavioral responses to the growing issue of smog and PM 2.5 air pollution in Thailand. Based on survey responses from 337 participants, her study highlights:

  • The significant health risks posed by air pollution.
  • Behavioral changes, such as the increased use of face masks and adjustments to outdoor activities during high-pollution periods.
  • The widespread reliance on apps and social media as information sources about air quality.

Her findings underscore the population’s awareness of the problem and its effects on health, daily life, and work efficiency. However, the research also emphasizes the importance of continued efforts to combat this pressing environmental challenge.

Research Paper 2: Research on Education, Literacy, and Accessibility of Health Check-ups Among Working-age and Elderly Thais.

In her second paper, Primnutcha delves into the critical topic of health accessibility in Thailand, focusing on working-age and elderly populations. This comprehensive study, based on a survey of 312 participants, explores:

  • Key factors influencing access to health check-ups, such as income, education, and awareness of health rights.
  • Barriers to accessibility, including costs and a lack of awareness about available health benefits.
  • The positive impact of higher education, income, and government health schemes in improving access to health check-ups.

Primnutcha’s findings shed light on the challenges faced by many Thais in accessing essential healthcare services and offer valuable insights into how systems can be improved to promote a healthier society.
