Position: Elementary Homeroom Teacher

Department: Elementary

Report to: Head of Elementary/ Curriculum Coordinator

 

Responsibilities

  • Teach, manage and monitor children in a classroom environment
  • Teach core subjects in Elementary level assigned by the School 
  • Plan, create, prepare, evaluate and assign lessons, based on the school curriculum, US curriculum
  • Prepare courseworks and assignments 
  • Grades paper and perform other administrative teaching-related duties if required 
  • Maintain grade books
  • Implement various teaching techniques in class
  • Develop incentives to keep participants in class
  • Encourage creativity and enthusiasm in learning in students
  • Assist students before and/or after school if they need extra help
  • Utilize various teaching and curriculum resources
  • Keep record of teaching materials, students’ progress and outcomes in portfolios
  • Coordinate with the Head of Elementary and/or curriculum coordinator to ensure the learning goals and objectives are met
  • Constantly update lesson plans and coordinate with the Academic Administrators
  • Communicate with parents or guardians about their child’s academic and overall improvement
  • Be responsible for children’s welling and safety and manage their behaviors in a classroom.

 

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education, Elementary Education or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year experience in teaching in Elementary level 
  • Teaching license is preferred.
  • Child’s protection and safety training if preferred

Job Description

- Teach basic English skills including reading, writing and speaking.

- Compose lesson plans in order to successfully incorporate the full duration of each lesson.

Position: Social Studies/ Humanities teacher

General Description
Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student skills of
listening, speaking, reading, and writing in a social studies context that are fundamental to effective
communication and citizenship; that develops appreciation of the subject matter that motivates students
to read widely for information and recreation; that develops students for critical judgment of written and
oral communications transmitted by mass media; and that discovers and develops special talents of
students in the field of social studies to prepare each student to meet the standards.

Qualifications
• God-fearing
• Native- level English speaker or can demonstrate equivalent proficiency;
• Bachelor’s degree or higher major in Social Studies or Humanities related field;
• at least 3 years of teaching experience
• Experience in teaching American Common Core Curriculum
• Has a strong teaching Methodology and pedagogy for global perspectives

Position: Head of School

Reports to: NIVA AIS School Board

General Description
The Thai Principal is the instructional leader and administrative head of the Thai Department. As
such, the principal has primary responsibility for overseeing the school’s programs and personnel in
keeping with NIVA’s mission, objectives, and core values, school board policies, approved
educational programs and administrative rules, regulations, and directives. The principal supervises
the Thai teacher, staff and students. She/he reports to and is evaluated annually by the Head of
School on objectives established jointly with the Head of School.

Role and Responsibilities
Head of School is directly responsible, through leadership, for ensuring that the following are
accomplished
● God-fearing
● Providing for education and curricular development.
● Preparing the school’s annual operating budget following strategic guidelines established by the
School Board.
● School Development and fundraising activities.
● Recruitment, compensation, assignment and the ultimate professionalism of the principal,
teacher, and support staff.
● Annual performance evaluation for all teachers and members of the principals.
● Assuring the quality of student life.
● Decision making regarding enrollment numbers and placement of students.
● Maintaining relationships among NIVA and parent community at large and representing the
school at functions throughout the year.
● Develop a long range strategic plan in partnership with the board and school stakeholders
● Oversee all aspects of the development, implementation, and evaluation of the instructional
program
● Assume responsibility for the professional growth of the teacher
● Supervise teacher recruitment and contracts, orientation, and appraisal of all professional and
support staff and all other matters related to personnel

● Serve as the school's spokesperson to the community

General Description
A gym teacher job description is more involved than some people might expect. Physical education (PE) teachers organize games and challenges that promote physical activity among children and young adults from kindergarten to high school. Their goal is to develop motor skills and physical development among younger children and proper exercise and eating habits among older children. The job description of a PE teacher sometimes includes organizing and managing team sports, particularly at the elementary school level. PE teachers must also adjust their curricula to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities in order to create a positive experience for all students.

Like all instructors, PE teachers must have strong speaking and listening skills. Besides being knowledgeable about an activity, they need to be able to communicate and demonstrate it properly. PE teachers must be able to observe all their students and maintain discipline within the class. A physical education teacher job description may also include interacting with parents, other teachers, and school administrators and creating progress reports for students.

General Description
-Conducts continuous assessment and curricular review to ensure vertical and horizontal flow of information in terms of content, and performs curricular adjustments accordingly.

-Guides teachers in the prioritization of their respective periodic goals; reviews each teacher's annual program allocation; provides them with needed support and advice.

- Helps teachers in setting their annual subject objectives and syllabi at the beginning of the year, and monitor the progress against annual plans.

- Conducts periodic workshops to improve teachers' level of competency and proficiency in teaching.

-Coordinates and overseas subject related extra-curricular activities in coordination with the student affairs officer.

-Checks and discusses written students evaluations received from teachers.

- Meets with parents of students with academic-related problems.

- Provides necessary resources and materials to subject teachers.

- Holds weekly department meeting and submits minutes of meeting to the Academic Coordinator.

-Evaluates teachers' performance and submits periodic reports on their progress; suggests training  needs accordingly.

- Suggests issuing correspondence letters to teachers (warnings, appreciation letters…)

-Assists in the department recruitment process.

-Conducts an instructional orientation program annually for new teachers.

-Attends meetings, workshops, and training sessions during and outside school hours.

- Interviews new students and provides the school principal with recommendations and suggestions.
